One of the most common question we hear is do I qualify? The answer depends on the medication and the manufacturer. But most commercial savings program have several requirements in common. First, these programs are generally intend for patient with commercial or private health insurance. But having commercial insurance alone does not automatically mean you will qualify. Depending on the program, your insurance may need to cover the medication and your diagnosis and prescribed treatment may need to meet the manufacturer's program requirements. Some programs also have age, residency or other eligibility restrictions.

Another very important restriction involves government funded insurance. Manufactured commercial copay programs generally cannot be used when medication is reimbured through the programs such as Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Triricare or VA benefits. Patient who purchase commercial insurance through the health insurance marketplace may still qualify for certain programs depending on the manufacturer's rules. If you unsure or have very limited insurance coverage, don't automatically assume there is no help available. Some manufacturers offer separate patient assistance programs. These are different from commercial copay savings programs and may have their own financial residency insurance and documentation requirements.

And remember, insurance approval and savings program approval are two separate things. Your insurance company determines whether your treatment is covered under your health plan. The manufacturer determines whether you qualify for its savings program. If you're not sure which category you fall into, our team can help you identify the appropriate program and understand the requirements.
